Music for Global Peace

Global Peace Through Music

Our Mission

Music for Global Peace harnesses the universal language of music to promote peace, compassion, and nonviolence across all borders and cultures. We believe music has the power to soothe conflict and offer compassion, nonviolence, and a humane approach to humanity’s deepest challenges.

Why Music Matters

No wall stands against music. It reaches past every barrier we build—one of the finest ways we have to give voice to that fierce and living love for existence that each of us carries inside.

That same feeling is the root of everything we do: love for our families, for the people of this world, and for everyone in it—without distinction of gender, age, class, nationality, or cultural, religious, or spiritual background. Our music honors the natural world too—the stone and soil, growing things, flowers, and animals who share this planet with us.

What We’ve Learned

Twenty-five years of working with friends around the world has taught us something simple: ordinary people everywhere want the same thing—peace. This truth deepens with each song, each collaboration, each voice that joins ours.

Our Commitment

We offer whatever musical gift we have to humanity—reaching toward those who carry the weight of injustice, and placing hope and strength in their hands. Music speaks a language every person already understands. We use it to reflect the beauty of what we are and to build a peace that is more than the absence of war.

Our Impact

Our music has reached audiences worldwide—from United Nations environmental campaigns to British classrooms, from American theatre productions commemorating Hiroshima and Nagasaki to peace festivals in India, France, Romania, and New York. Our work touches hearts across continents and cultures.

How We Create

A poet sends words. That is how it begins.

A poem arrives from Singapore, Romania, Belgium, or Argentina, and a song comes back. “May Peace Prevail on Earth” began when a Romanian poet sent his lines to us in October 2006; it was performed in New York the following August, and broadcast on Romanian radio in spring 2008.

Our larger projects work the same way. World Prayer for Peace gathered 187 artists from 42 countries in 2008, then 250 artists from 44 countries the following year—assembled entirely by email. Recordings and production are completed at StarLight Harmony Music Studio in Hawaii.
